R&B singer Miguel has filed for divorce from his wife of three years Nazanin Mandi.

The couple were together for 17 years in total, officially tying the knot in 2018 at an intimate ceremony at Hummingbird Ranch in Simi Valley, California.

Although the split was unexpected, both parties acknowledged the marital challenges presented by the pandemic.

“We were used to being around each other a lot, but then we were also used to traveling a lot,” Mandi said. “So keeping the spark alive was definitely something we had to stay on — because when you’re in different cities, it’s automatic to feel excitement [when you see each other again].”

Miguel first rose to fame with his debut album All I want is you, which gained him a cult following. Each successive album has garnered further acclaim, earning him a Grammy nomination in 2016. His music videos have millions of views online.
