Meet Our Attorneys

 

Brian E. Gordon

Brian E. Gordon was born in Detroit but raised in the East Lansing area where he attended and graduated from Okemos High School, Michigan State University and Michigan State University College of Law (formerly known as the Detroit College of Law at Michigan State University).

Brian has worked and resided in Grand Rapids for the past 20 years. Brian is an attorney/owner of Gordon & Hess, PLC, with a practice primarily focused upon divorce, family law, criminal defense, bankruptcy and mediation.

Brian is an experienced 20-year veteran of handling paternity, divorce, custody, parenting time and child support matters for men facing these difficult issues.

Brian is also extremely well versed and experienced in representing women in divorce and all family law related matters as well as mediation for individuals who wish to proceed in a more amicable manner.

Brian has represented a wide variety of clients throughout West Michigan including but not limited to the following counties: Kent, Ottawa, Muskegon, Kalamazoo, Ionia, Allegan, Montcalm, Barry, Berrien, Van Buren, Newaygo, Mecosta, Oceana, St. Joseph, Cass and Calhoun. Brian is a passionate and highly experienced attorney for hire.

Daniel B. Hess Jr

Daniel B. Hess, Jr. was raised in Grand Rapids, MI. Daniel went on to attend Michigan State University where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice in 1992. Daniel then attended California Western School of Law and graduated in 1995.

While obtaining his law degree, Daniel interned at the San Diego County Public Defender’s Office where he gained a tremendous amount of experience working within the criminal justice system. Daniel was admitted to the California Bar in 1997.

In 1999, Daniel accepted a position at Hess, Hess & Kmetz, PC, alongside his father, the late Daniel B. Hess, Sr., and his uncle, the late John H. Hess. Daniel was admitted to the Michigan Bar in 2000.

While with Hess, Hess & Kmetz, PC, Daniel’s main areas of practice were bankruptcy law, criminal law and family law with a primary focus on protecting men’s rights. Daniel joined Gordon & Shaw in 2007 where he continued to focus on family law.

With the emergence of Gordon & Hess, PLC, Daniel continues to seek justice in both the family and criminal court systems and to carry on the legal family tradition of his late father and uncle. Daniel is a strong and savvy advocate and has obtained a significant amount of courtroom experience in his areas of practice.
